Peers are often the first to know when someone is struggling. Hope Squad makes sure they’re not the last to help.
Hope Squad is a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program that trains trusted students to identify warning signs of depression, connect classmates to caring adults, and create a school culture of hope and support. Selected by their peers, Hope Squad members receive specialized training to listen without judgment, build trust, and know when and how to refer friends to help.
For parents, Hope Squad offers peace of mind—knowing that schools are taking a proactive, compassionate approach to mental health. The program fosters connection, resilience, and protective relationships among youth, and it’s backed by strong research showing its effectiveness in reducing suicide risk and stigma.
With adult advisors and support from our coalition, Hope Squad could build safer, more supportive environments in every school.
