About
Vision
We envision a healthy, vibrant community that is free from substance abuse.
Mission
Through community collaborative efforts, we support, guide, and advocate change that reduces youth and community substance use and its associated negative consquences.
Our coaltion
Our coalition is a vibrant and diverse network of community members, organizations, and sector representatives each bringing unique perspectives and expertise to our shared mission. At the core of our work are volunteer members representing various sectors of the community including youth-serving organizations, substance use organizations, non-profit organizations, schools, business, parents, youth, civic organizations, government, healthcare organizations, law enforcement, and faith-based organizations. This broad spectrum of participation ensures that our strategies are informed by the needs and strengths of every facet of our community. Together, we are united in our commitment to fostering a healthier, safer, and more empowered Moses Lake.
Our collective efforts are influenced by principles of the Science of the Positive, focusing on building upon our community’s strengths and fostering positive change through collaboration and mutual support.
Who we are
Moses Lake Community Coalition is part of the Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative (CPWI) funded through Washington State Health Care Authority’s (HCA) Vision of Behavioral Health and Recovery (DBHR). The foundation of CPWI’s strategic planning process is adaptation of both Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) and the Communities that Care (CTC) planning model.
- Every day in Moses Lake, youth and families are gaining access to the tools, support, and opportunities they need to thrive. Through school partnerships, parent education, youth-led initiatives, and public awareness campaigns. Our coalition is creating positive, lasting change at the community level. From increasing protective factors like strong family management to reducing access to substances, our work is designed to reach every young person—not just those already at risk.
- We focus on universal prevention—strategies that uplift the entire community. Whether it’s helping parents build stronger relationships with their kids, expanding youth drop-in opportunities, or working with schools to create nurturing environments, we believe prevention starts where people live, learn, and grow. With support from our partners and volunteers, we’re not just responding to problems—we’re building a community where youth are more connected, supported, and empowered to make healthy choices.
